The Broadband Committee was formed to look at how to improve internet access and speeds for residents of Appleton. It is no longer a committee of the Town. Tidewater Networks completed a significant rollout of fiber to many parts of town that were not previously served at the end of 2020. Tidewater also received a grant from ConnectME in June 2021 which enabled them to complete the rollout of fiber to all Appleton roads in their coverage area. Below is a map showing the roads that fiber is now or soon to be available in town. New roads added this year are: - Back Road - Completed - Pettengill Lane - Completed - Gushee Road - Completed - Lodge Lane - Completed - Hillside Road - Completed - Guinee Ridge Road (Burkettville road to Union town line) - Completed - Appleton Ridge Road (Burkettville road to Union town line) - Completed
Below are the roads that were not covered by the ConnectME grant, or a subsequent grant. Or next best chance is the Federal BEAD Program in 2024 and 2025.
- Collinstown road south of Burkettville road. - Campground Road - Mitchell Hill Road - Fishtown Road - Esancy Road - Hatchery Lane
